    About the Department

    The Department of Commerce has been a major section of Dr. Patangrao Kadam Mahavidyalaya Sangli. It was established in September 1985 right from inception of the College. The Department is running graduate courses in B. Com. with specialisation in Advanced Accountancy, Advanced Costing and Advanced Banking affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur. The department has started M. Com. course since 2022 with specialisation in Advanced Accountancy. Right from the beginning senior and reputed teachers are associated with the Department.

    Vision:
    • To provide excellent education in Commerce with the view of developing highly capable human resources for industry and society.
    Mission:
    • To provide quality education and opportunities that meets the needs of business industry by giving theoretical and practical knowledge.

    Objectives:

    • To build the conceptual and practical foundation in areas of Commerce and Management.
    • To keep regular interaction with educational institutions, financial organisations and industries with the help of MoUs and industrial visits.
    • To develop entrepreneurship skills among the students.
    • To develop quality human resources to industry as well as society.
    • To develop students for professional career in accounting, finance, management, research and higher education.

Achievements

    1. Research Project Completed by Students:

    Three students of our department Miss. Pradnya Dattatraya Patil, Miss. Harshada Vijay Shinde and Miss. Pallvi Anil Patil have successfully completed a research project entitled "A Study of Financial Literacy of College Students in Sangli City" under Research Sensitization Scheme for College Students Promotion Activity for students of Affiliated College under Lead College Scheme. The project was received a fund of Rs. 10,000/- from Shivaji University, Kolhapur the year 2021-22.

    2. Youth Festival Prizes Won:

    Two students of our department have bagged first prize in folk dance performed in 41st Central Youth Festival of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and second prize in 41st Sangli District Youth Festival held in the academic year 2021-22.
