It is my great pleasure and pride to take chair, as the Principal, for the second time, in BharatiVidyapeeth’s Dr. PatangraoKadamMahavidyalaya, situated in the close vicinity of sacred river, Krishnamai ,on the outskirts of the Sangli. The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. It is a hallmark of quality and excellence in higher education as it has been reaccredited with ‘A’ grade by the NAAC, Bangalore, and honored with a special award by Government of Maharashtra for its substantial contribution through NSS.

Hon.Dr.Patangraoji Kadam, the Founder and Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Hon. Dr.Vishwajit Kadam, the Secretary of Bharati Vidyapeeth University believe that a spread of higher education among masses will really bring about social , economic and cultural transformation in the rural masses in our country.

The college is hub of learning that provides education and knowledge to the Arts, Commerce, Science and Computer degree students. There are separate departments for undergraduate courses in English, Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, Physical Education, Geography, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, Botany and Post Graduate course in Analytical Chemistry. Moreover, Career Oriented Courses like Personality Development and English Communication Skills, Rural Journalism, Tourism, Dress Making and Fashion Designing, Medical Lab Technology, Water and Soil Analysis, Vermiculture and Vermicomposting are run, along with a Junior wing in Arts, Science and Vocational Studies.

Science Laboratories, research laboratory of Chemistry, Computer Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Green House, Advanced Sports Equipment, enriched Library, spacious reading hall, a large playground and the huge college building are the main attractions of our college. Majority of the students are from rural area, especially from socially and economically backward families. They are given concessions, facility to pay in installments and freeship in their fees, so as to enable them to continue education. A special feature of the college is that, admissions are given to almost all those, who are denied or are likely to be denied admissions in other colleges, due to low merit.

Our teachers take strenuous efforts to enable mediocre students to secure first class and distinctions in the final examination of their degree courses. Some students of caliber, secure places in the merit list of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, while some are awarded prizes for their creative writings in the ‘Dnyanbharati’, our college magazine, by the University. Our teachers strive for the intellectual and emotional enrichment of students, so that they are empowered to face competitive exams and global challenges successfully.

As a Principal, I motivate my colleagues to be research oriented and innovative. I inspire them to become friends, philosophers and guides for the learners and imbibe an awareness of their abilities and latent talents and inculcate human values and universal brotherhood.
